October is here and I can really feel it! It is getting colder, the leaves turn brown (that’s also a line from the song “Miracle – Julian Perretta” 😉 ) and the days get shorter.
At the weekend I did quite a few things. I eventually had time to sort all my (over 1000) Oxford pictures and (with all my archive and library knowledge) I also started to tag them with keywords (Metadata!!). Then I had to decide which things to give back to Switzerland, because next weekend my parents come to visit me and they bring me some warm clothes and I give them some summer clothes to take back! My goal is that at the end of my placement everything fits in my suitcases!!
I bought shoes. That’s sounds not too exciting, however, I am a very complicated person, when it comes to buying new shoes. Even this time, the first shop was annoying (but they had rain boots!!). Here in England it is more common than in Switzerland that only one shoe is displayed. If you want to try a pair on, you have to ask an employee to bring you the right size. When we were there, it was busy and we had to wait. It is really annoying, especially when you are a difficult shoe person. I think, we spent about half an hour in there and I only tried on two sizes. I was frustrated due to the fact that I needed shoes but it just took to long to get a pair you can try on!! So we left and later I succeeded in Marks and Spencer’s. There the shoes were in different sizes on the shelf like I know it from Switzerland. There I had a pair of ankle boots after 10 minutes. And I think this could easily be the fastest I’ve ever found and bought shoes!! Additionally the boots I found are very comfortable and nice!!
And it was again a laundry weekend! I think I don’t have to mention this again. Karin and I have it under control, so there is nothing interesting (no stains, or other fails) to write about 😉
On Sunday evening, we had the opportunity to join the other library trainees for a Pub Quiz. I had no idea what a Pub Quiz is like and how it works. Fortunately, we made groups. Otherwise I would have lost!! I wasn’t helpful at all. Really! I only knew about two answers out of 5 rounds with each 10 to 12 questions 😉 But despite the fact that I had no idea, I enjoyed it. I liked that there were different rounds. One was about things in the news, about historical things, one was guessing
songs! I think I want to go again, but with a little bit more preparation (reading the newspaper for example 😉 )
Yeah, that’s it again!
